Can women visit graveyard in Islam? Female visiting graves.

Can women visit graveyard in Islam? Female visiting graves. [kya aurat qabristan ja sakti hai; aurat ka qabristan jana; aurat ka qabristan jana kaisa hai; aurat ka qabristan jana hadith; aurat ka qabristan jana in islam; woman visit to grave in islam]

There is no harm in women or girls visiting graveyards or graves as long as they do not cry out, wail, behave hysterically and respect graves too much, which can cause mischief. The same applies to men as well.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prohibited visiting graves during a period of time when belief in fate was not yet settled and traditions of the era of ignorance were still being practiced. However, later he permitted it.

The following is stated in a hadith:

“I had prohibited visiting graves for you. From now on you can visit graves”. (Muslim 977)
Hazrat Abdallah ibn Abi Mulaikah said, "Once Aisha (wife of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)) returned after visiting the graveyard. I asked, 'O Mother of the believers, where have you been?' She said: 'I went out to visit the grave of my brother Abd ar-Rahman.' I asked her: 'Didn't the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prohibit visiting graves?' She said, 'Yes, he did forbid visiting graves during the early days (of Islam), but later on he ordered us to visit them'." Related by Al-Hakim and Al-Baihaqi.

The hadith above shows that the Prophet have not forbidden women to visit graves but he has ordered them not to visit frequently.

Most of the scholars in Islam hold it permissible for the women to visit the graves occasionally; but hold it forbidden for the women to visit the graves frequently as stated by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

And Allah knows best!
